During this workshop the (im)possibilities of the protection of software will be discussed by IP Specialists of the Octrooicentrum and AKD. The workshop will take place in the “Octrooicentrum” (Dutch Patent Office) in Rijswijk (near The Hague).  The purpose of this meeting is to get a clear practical insight in Software protection. We want to avoid political discussions on whether software patents are desirable or not. The following topics will be discussed:

Different ways of protection
1. General introduction to intellectual property rights and patents in particular;
2. Software and patents;
3. Copyright protection;

Enforcement:
4. Protecting software in practice.
5. Infringement: which remedies are available?
6. Can measures be taken to avoid infringement?

8. Collaboration with other parties;
         a. Including: Keeping track of IP rights in mergers and acquisitions and while working with external contractors;
